Washington is a town of about 130 people. Rappahannock County is the larger map. Most of what guests come for sits within a half-hour drive of the front door.
Wineries are the easiest place to start. Little Washington Winery is closest, with views back toward the Blue Ridge. Quievremont, Gadino Cellars, and Sharp Rock are all within fifteen minutes and make a comfortable afternoon. Copper Fox Distillery is in nearby Sperryville if whiskey is more the plan.
For outdoors, Shenandoah National Park is the obvious draw. The Skyline Drive entrance at Thornton Gap is twenty minutes from the inn. Old Rag and Whiteoak Canyon are both popular hikes; both fill up early on weekends, so plan to be at the trailhead before nine.
For something quieter, the back roads east toward Sperryville and south toward Castleton are some of the best driving in the state. We can mark a loop on a map for you when you arrive.
