Restaurants are listed in order of proximity to the Foster Harris House:
The Inn at Little Washington. A five-minute walk from the Foster Harris House. We still marvel that one of the world’s top restaurants is nestled in this tiny village of 186 residents. Despite all of its lavish décor, the impossibly beautiful and delicious food, and the high accolades it’s received, the Inn is made up of the most down-to-earth, warm and friendly people you’d ever care to meet. We’re among the Inn’s biggest fans and most frequent diners, so we’re happy to book your reservation and answer questions you have about making the most of your experience.
Country Café, Washington. A five-minute walk. Our local country diner where the servers call you “Hon” and the menu has traditional basics like BLTs, soups, and platters. Closed Sundays.
Thornton River Grille , Sperryville. An eight-minute drive southwest. Great steaks and burgers plus contemporary American cuisine. Casual, moderately priced. Serves lunch and dinner. Closed Sunday evenings and Mondays.
Rudy’s Pizza, Sperryville. An eight-minute drive southwest. Calzone, Sicilian, or Foccacia. We especially like the Greek pizza. Open every day from 4 – 9 pm.
Griffin Tavern, Flint Hill. A ten-minute drive north. Casual family dining in a restored Victorian house. Wrap around porch and deck for outdoor dining. Try the fish and chips. The bar has eight beers on tap plus TVs for sports. The Griff often has live music on weekends. Open daily for lunch and dinner.
24 Crows, Flint Hill. A ten-minute drive north. Formerly the acclaimed restaurant, “Four and Twenty Blackbirds,” this eclectic lunch spot makes fantastic soups and sandwiches. Browse jewelry, art, gifts and accessories while you dine.
Orlean 20128 Restaurant, Orlean. A twenty-minute drive northeast on the breathtaking backroads of Virginia hunt country. Orlean 20128 serves moderately priced fine American cuisine with fresh, local ingredients. Lunch is served at the attached general store. Call for dinner hours.
Foti’s, Culpeper. A thirty-minute drive south, but worth it. Chef Frank Maragos, formerly the executive sous chef at the Inn at Little Washington, offers fine dining in an elegant rustic atmosphere. Smart casual, moderately priced. Don’t miss dessert! Go early to browse the shops on Davis Street (most will close by 6 p.m.). Serves lunch and dinner. Closed on Wednesday evenings and all day Monday.
There are more restaurants to choose from, and we’re delighted to elaborate. We’re also happy to make reservations and provide you with directions. Just ask!
