The Foster Harris House was built in 1905 and has been a bed and breakfast since 1984. Co-owners and innkeepers John and Diane MacPherson bought the property in 2004, having left their corporate jobs to pursue a dream of creating a business that combined their passions for food, wine, and entertaining.
Diane traveled the world as a corporate trainer and marketing consultant, so she relished the idea of creating an experience for guests at the Foster Harris House that included the modern conveniences and amenities of four- and five-star hotels with a more personal feel of a country inn. And while John had a thriving career as a design engineer in the fireplace and hearth industry, his role as chef at the Foster Harris House allows him to share his lifelong love for food, wine and cooking.
In addition to the Foster Harris House, John and Diane own Tour d’Epicure Virginia Cycling Adventures which allows them to incorporate two more passions into their day jobs: bicycling and dining at The Inn at Little Washington.
Diane and John both grew up in New England and most recently lived in Laguna Beach, California. They have a four-year-old son, Finn, and a yellow lab, Stella.
